Alabama Hills Sunrise_1456_59_60_61

Alabama Hills Sunrise_1456_59_60_61

This was a very special personal moment for me in the Alabama Hills at sunrise. The light only lasted a minute or two like this before fading. I was thankful to be waiting and ready for it with my camera on a tripod when it did. The Alabama Hills is located near Lone Pine in the Eastern Sierra of California. Many a Hollywood western movie has been filmed in this location. Is it any wonder? Seems like the iconic cowboy set. In fact, Lone Pine, the town closest to the Alabama Hills, is home to an annual film festival as a direct result of the area's history of Hollywood movies. Gregory Peck, John Wayne and many other famous western stars have filmed movies there.
