I had been up at 5 am on this particular day shooting a sunrise at Crater Lake. I thought I had put my camera away until the evening sunset. But when I spotted these clouds building up along the rim in mid-afternoon at Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, I knew this was a black & white image I had to have. These are Ansel Adams clouds, and I was thinking of him as I shot this and later converted the color image to b&w at home.
