Nothing epitomizes the Southwest like Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park on the Arizona-Utah border. People come from all over the world to witness the iconic locations of the American West celebrated in countless Western movies, such as those made famous by Hollywood director John Ford. I've visited Monument Valley twice, and I feel I've barely scratched the surface of all the photographic opportunities the area affords. I recently returned in March from my second visit to the valley, and to neighboring Mystery Valley, which has a similar assortment of interesting geological formations as well as 3,000- to 6,000-year-old Anasazi cliff dwellings and petroglyphs. This gallery combined the best images from both those explorations of this fascinating region.
