Reeds, Lake Siskiyou
On first glance, it looks as if I went to great lengths to decorate these reeds with small lights. Unintentionally, I had captured these sunlit reflections off dew drops. There is a bit of flare from the setting sun, but it seems to fit in this particular image. On a camping stopover in Mt. Shasta, California in June 2011, I was intending to spend the short time I had allotted to photographing the mountain from Lake Siskiyou. However, down at lakeshore, I spotted the reeds in the water and got sucked in to directing my camera on a study of these reeds as subjects, abstract and otherwise, at different times of day under changing light. As you can see by this image and the several images that accompany it, quality of light and perspective made for some interesting and varied effects of this single subject.
