The Cambodian temple, also known as the "Citadel of the Woman," is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and built largely of red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings which are still observable today. Dating back to 967 AD, it was rediscovered in 1914 after being swallowed up by the jungle.
