Sunset glow on Arniston beach. Arniston lies along the Garden Route between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, South Africa. It is very close to Cape Alguhas, the southernmost tip of the African continent where the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean merge. Fishing is a mainstay of the Arniston economy. The area is known for its rugged coastline and beautiful beaches, but swimming is not advisable due to rip tides and the presence of Great White sharks.
