Plant-based sources of the colorful dyes used in Peruvian yarns. Chincheros is located in the Sacred Valley of the Inca, Peru and is well known for its alpaca wool woven blankets, clothing, hats and purses. The female "Weavers of Chincheros" are easy to recognize with their colorful, traditional outfits. In this image, on display are the plant material used as a source for the dyes to give color to the alpaca wool that is hand spun by the weavers.
