A recent October trip to Eastern Oregon – the Wallowas and Blue Mountains – included a lot of unsettled wet weather. But in the end, that made for some excellent, even dramatic, photography. The trip included a first visit for me to the Zumwalt Prairie Preserve, a large area of grassland and rolling hills in the remote northeast corner of Oregon owned and managed by the Nature Conservancy, which surprised me with its photographic possibilities.
