The Cascade Range of Central Oregon is a great place to see the proverbial "riot of color" put out by vine maples in autumn. These were found along the McKenzie Pass. Don't ask me why out of this profusion of autumn leaves there is but a solitary red leaf. But notice how your eyes are immediately drawn to red, no matter how small and insignificant.
