The rising sun illuminates the east face of Mount Rainier near Sunrise, Washington, USA in Mt. Rainier National Park. I was staying in Paradise, which is about 50 miles away from Sunrise. But because the road to this place is so windy and treacherous, with steep drop offs, it takes at least two hours to get to this location, especially traveling in the dark. I got up at 3 am to make it for the sunrise. After being there for this fabulous scene, I never regretted one minute of lost sleep. This twilight image was shot about 30 minutes prior to the companion image taken after the sun had risen above the horizon. Amazing what 30 minutes mean in terms of the color of light.
