KoosahFallsRainbow2011_034 copy

I made a choice early this particular morning to do something relatively easy in terms of getting to a place with wonderful phototography opportunities. I had taken two long hikes with heavy camera backpack in the previous days, and I was wanting to be kind to myself this morning by not going on another long trek. I knew Koosah Falls is easy pickings as I had visited it before. Sometimes it pays to be lackadaisical, I guess. Shortly after unpacking camera and tripod, this wonderful rainbow formed in the spill area at the foot of the falls and remained visible for a good 20 minutes, allowing me to take several shots landscape and portrait. Although my viewpoints were limited by the steepness of the embankments leading down to the river, I was pretty jazzed by having the good fortune to be there for this. On the McKenzie River in the Cascade Range of Central Oregon.
