One of the biggest surprises of my trip to Eastern Oregon was discovering the rich photo opportunities there, even in a place like the Zumwalt Prairie Preserve, owned, managed and protected by the Nature Conservancy. Located in a remote northeast corner of Oregon along the border with Idaho, the prarie contains native grasslands that have never been farmed or plowed. Although it was raining and blustery while I was there, I welcomed the soft light created by the clouds and way the wind created waves of movement in the tall grasses that my camera was able to capture with a fast shutter speed.
